A new PhD course, Planning and Design of Clinical Research Studies (3 credits), is available at the medical faculty. The course will be held week 36 and 39 this year. More information here.

Because the invitation for the section meeting did not reach all members due to technical problems we decided, based on some members’ opinions, to postpone the section meeting to Thursday the 31st of May. The location will be communicated later.

DOMFiL, will organise a section meeting for all PhD students at Thursday the 31st of May . We will present what we have achieved and organised for HU PhD students this year, and vote for next years DOMFiL board members.

If you are interested in becoming involved in the DOMFiL HU PhD student union, especially if you would like to become a board member, or if you wish to influencing our organised activities and actions by leaving a proposal or express your interest in a certain topic/committee, you can send us a mail latest Thursday May 3rd.

SULF (The Swedish Association of University Teachers) and DOMFIL (the post-grad section of the student union Consensus) invites all PhD students at Linköping University to see this movie. After the screening, you will get some coffee/tea and you will have the possibility to meet representatives from SULF, DOMFIL and other PhD organisations at LiU. Come and discuss the matters that are important to you, and tell us what PhD issues you think we should work with. Better supervision, easier handling of residence permits or what do you think?

This year HU Junior Faculty will organise a lunch seminar series called Future Science where we invite members of the Young Academy of Sweden to present their research but also to discuss career issues, highlight their most important steps and decisions in their careers and give some tips to the audience.

All the seminars this spring take place from 11.30 to 13.00 in Elsa Brändströmsalen, Campus US. Please find the program for the spring seminars attached. The first seminar is on March 7 and we have invited Maria Lindskog from KI. The title of the presentation is:

“Glutamate transmission in an animal model of depression”

Maria Lindskog is Assistant Professor at the Department of Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet. Her research group is working on modulation of glutamate transmission in health and disease. The group combines electrophysiology, biochemistry and animal behaviour experiment and has recently focused on how deficiencies in particular aspects of glutamate transmission affects cognitive versus emotional symptoms in depression.

The seminars are free and open for all, but registration is required. We will serve lunch sandwiches to all registered participants. Please register to juniorfaculty@liu.se no later than March 2.
